  • Keep in mind the healing time of the procedure before scheduling
  • No caffeine or alcohol before the procedure
  • Bring your favourite lipstick, lipgloss, or pencil if you have one
  • Do not wear the best clothes because pigment might splatter on them
  • Wash your hair since after the procedure you will be asked to keep the treated area dry
  • If you are looking for a particular shape or colour prepare pictures to show to your technician, remember to have realistic expectations
  • Do not tweeze, wax, or dye brows before the procedure
  • Electrolysis should not be done at least 2 weeks prior procedure
  • No hair growth serums 3 months before the procedure
  • You must wait 4 weeks after Botox injections
  • You must not use any lash enhancement products (lash growth serums) for at least 3 months before the procedure, it might cause pigment migration
  • Remove lash extensions before your procedure
  • Remove eye contacts and bring your glasses
  • Bring your sunglasses, eyes may be sensitive to light
  • Do not dye or perm lashes 2 days before the procedure
  • If you had any eye surgery consult with a physician. Usually, it takes 2 months post-surgery before you will be released to get an eyeliner procedure
  • Moisturize your lips
  • If you had lip surgery consult with a physician about how long you should wait before a lip tattoo. If you had incisions, you should probably wait at least 6 months.
  • Lip fillers: usually you will have to wait 4 weeks after lip injections, it is recommended to get lip filler after semi-permanent lips.
  • Dentures, braces may increase the risk of getting a bacterial infection

If you are prone to cold sores, you must be on antiviral medicine before a lip procedure. Ask your doctor about the prescription. Keep in mind it is a multisession process, at least two appointments are required.

The following medical conditions require consideration before getting semi-permanent makeup procedures. Clients with any of these conditions should contact their doctor to determine if they can have this procedure. In some cases, a permanent makeup artist will ask you to get a physician’s opinion.

  • Asthma
  • Allergies, allergy to numbing creams or hair dyes
  • Anticoagulants (blood thinners), Haemophilia
  • You should not be on any blood thinners (Motrin, Aspirin, fish oil)

Before and during the semi-permanent makeup procedure technician will use topical anaesthetic cream, to assure you are comfortable (please remember the more anaesthetic is used the harder it is to implement the pigment), some discomfort depending on your individual pain tolerance and pigmented area could occur.

  • The technician will discuss the shape, colour, and advise the best technique for you
  • You will have to approve colour and shape before actual micropigmentation takes place
  • You will be asked to sit or stand up to check the progress and shape while micropigmentation to assure that intensity of the colour and shape is good
  • You will feel machine buzzing and vibration, light pressure, and skin stretching
  • The technician will apply the pigment into the top layer of the skin only with the tip of the needle
  • Each time the needle penetrates the skin, a droplet of pigment is released into the microscopic hole the needle makes, it might feel like a slight stinging
  • You might experience swelling, burning, and redness, some clients swell more than others, if your skin is sensitive, you might slightly bruise
  • The treated area might feel itchy and tender after the procedure

Before and during the semi-permanent makeup procedure technician will use topical anaesthetic cream, to assure you are comfortable (please remember the more anaesthetic is used the harder it is to implement the pigment), some discomfort depending on your individual pain tolerance and pigmented area could occur.

  • Remove any lymph with a clean tissue damped with sterilised water within 30-60 minutes after micropigmentation, keep the treated area dry and clean
  • Lymph drainage will turn to scab and will peel off with the pigment, this is how you lose the pigment, so it is good to keep it always dry
  • Stay away from dirt
  • Use “pin drop” size of aftercare ointment product in the morning and in the evening after washing and drying pigmented area (avoid building up of a product, the skin needs to breath to heal faster). Use your clean fingers to apply a thin layer of the cream for about seven days
  • Keep treated area dry and clean, make sure to take a quick shower and not wet your face, use a clean cloth to wash face
  • If you had a lip procedure, use a straw, and try to avoid hot, salty, and spicy food
  • Do not use any skincare and makeup products for 7-10 days on the treated area
  • Expect to lose some colour during next month (after 7-10 days you can use makeup to cover empty spots if necessary)
  • Do not touch pigmented area
  • Do not rub or pick any scabs, every skin heals differently
  • Do not sleep on your face
  • Colour will look dark and intense for the first week, this is normal. It takes about one week to restore the skin and grow a new layer over the colour
  • Avoid sun and tanning, direct sun might cause burning or darkening of the pigmented area
  • Use sunscreen to protect your tattoo and avoid discoloration
  • Do not sweat, especially for the next two days, sweat and oil might cause blurring and losing more pigment
  • Avoid tanning beds, saunas, and hot tubes, and direct water pressure
  • Chlorine and salt will fade your tattoo, so avoid swimming, also it is a risk of infection
  • Do not use any harsh creams around the treated area that contain acids or retinol for at least the first month
  • Do not wax pigmented area, this might pull out the pigment
  • Remove any lymph with a clean tissue, keep the treated area dry and clean
  • Schedule your follow up visit 4-6 weeks for brows and 6-8 weeks for lip blush from first treatment
  • You should not have MRI during the healing process (about 2 months)
  • You won’t be able to give blood for some period of time after the procedure
  • You will receive an aftercare guide and aftercare kit to use at home

Clients with health conditions might heal slower than others. If you suffer any medical condition always consult with a doctor. You may need your physician’s release certificate to undergo the testing and/or procedures that you desire. This is an extra measure of protection for your benefit.

microneedling

Below is a list of things that either need to be considered or must be followed before we perform any of our semi-permanent makeup procedures.

During the treatment, thousands of minuscule needle punctures are created in the outer layers of the skin. These micro-perforations send your body into ‘repair mode’, whereby it produces collagen and elastin to resurface and rejuvenate your cells.

Although micro needling might sound daunting at first, it is actually quite painless. Many people compare the experience to a deep facial with some extra vibration.

In one clinical study on micro needling for acne scars, patients rated the painfulness a 1 / 10 – for most people, that’s probably less painful than having your eyebrows waxed.

On top of this, we apply a topical anaesthetic to your skin prior to the procedure, allowing for a relatively pain-free experience.

Microneedling has minimal social downtime and side effects.

Most patients experience slight swelling and redness for about 2-4 days after the procedure, but this can be easily covered up with makeup to allow you to proceed with your daily activities.

To help your skin heal in the best possible way, we will provide an easy-to-follow aftercare.

You may notice healthier looking skin immediately after your treatment. However, your skin’s natural repair process will continue throughout your programme and for several weeks after it finishes. As such, your results will only keep improving over time.

Does it work for everyone

Yes. It is suitable for all skin types and is cleared by the FDA – a status attributed to only the most effective products.

Results can vary from person to person, depending on your skin condition and on the healthiness of your skin. At your free consultation we’ll talk you through the results you can expect.

Compared to many other aesthetic treatments, it’s relatively simple to prepare for a microneedle appointment. Unlike laser and light treatments, there is no need to prepare your skin for this treatment weeks in advance. Most of the guidelines for this treatment should be followed for a minimum of 24 to 48 hours before your appointment, depending on the condition of your skin.
Speaking of your skin condition, the very first thing you need to know about preparing for this treatment is the ideal health of your skin. You can’t have this treatment if you have an active skin infection or breakout, which includes cold sores, fever blisters, hives, allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, or active acne. Please reschedule your treatment if your skin is not clear on the day of your appointment. For those with history of cold sore, regardless of how long the last episode was, you must take acyclovir 3 days prior the treatment, and continue for 4 days afterwards, this is to prevent breakouts following your treatment.

There are two important components to prepare your skin for this treatment. The first is to avoid any direct exposure to sunlight for at least 24 hours unless you are wearing strong SPF to protect your skin. Prolonged sun exposure, including exposure to tanning beds, may cause skin irritation during your treatment.

You will also need to temporarily stop using certain skincare products, particularly retinoids and acid-based products, such as azelaic acid, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid. While these products can benefit the health and appearance of your skin, they should not be used immediately before or after a microneedle treatment to avoid any possible skin irritation or over drying. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, then you may need to temporarily stop using the medication for one to three days before your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, you can expedite your treatment if you arrive at your appointment with a fresh face. Please wash your face with a gentle cleanser and do not wear any lotion, perfume, or serums when you go to your appointment. If you are wearing make-up that day, please remove make-up before your appointment.

There are also steps you can take for your comfort during the treatment. For patients with sensitive skin, it’s sometimes a good idea to take Tylenol about one hour before your appointment to minimize any possible discomfort from the treatment process. We also can offer patients a topical numbing cream to use before the appointment starts to ensure their comfort. You will be required to have a patch test for the numbing cream 48 hours prior to your treatment.

This amount of preparation is necessary if you want your treatment to be safe, effective, and comfortable. Ideally, following these preparation guidelines will make sure your skin is in peak condition and healthy enough for treatment. The goal of our treatment is to produce your desired aesthetic results without drying your skin or creating skin irritation. If you prepare well for your treatment, then you will be able to enjoy a radiant glow immediately after your treatment.

Please try to arrive for the treatment with a clean bare face – no moisturiser, sunscreen, make-up, or oils. However, we will also thoroughly cleanse your skin before the treatment begins.

In the first 24 hours post-procedure, please try to:

Avoid direct sunlight. If you absolutely must be outside, be cautious and wear a shaded hat.

Avoid making any direct contact to the face. Do not apply any products.

Avoid showering or washing your face.

Avoid hot baths or saunas.

Avoid exposure to any harsh chemicals or sprays.

Avoid smoking – smoking delays healing and can increase the risk of complications.

Drink at least 1.5 litres of water.

Between 24 and 72 hours after the treatment, please try to:

Wash your face with a gentle wash.

We strongly recommend for you to use our suggested serums as the daily topical system. After allowing the serums to set for 10 minutes, begin incorporating products of your daily regime – moisturiser, sunscreen, etc.

Minimise direct sunlight. If you need to go outside, apply sunscream and wear a shaded hat.

After 72 hours have passed, please:

Schedule a follow up appointment. During this appointment, we will assess your healing and determine the remaining sequence of your treatment. Continue to use our recommended serums as a daily topical system.

Avoid the use of any harsh chemicals, exfoliates, or scrubs for at least 10 days.

Microneedling is not recommended for women who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding.

The procedure is also not suitable for patients with:

A history of keloid scars, scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases, or cardiac abnormalities.

A haemorrhagic disorder or haemostatic dysfunction.

An active bacterial or fungal infection.

This is a question I’m never asked, but one I always answer – and always have in the back of my mind. As your skin is the largest organ of your body, it responds to everything you do from the inside out, and the outside in.

Just like other beauty treatment, this a teamwork beauty treatment. Microneedling alone won’t give you your best possible skin. The truth is, that if you’re highly stressed, not sleeping well, not eating nutritious food, or you’re a smoker – then you won’t see the best possible results. These things all influence your skin. When we’re working together, we look at all the factors that affect your skin, to ensure you get the best possible results. This may involve making some small lifestyle tweaks or including supplements in your program.

And it will involve wearing a sunscreen – if you’re not using a minimum factor 30 sunscreen all year round, I won’t treat you (I’m not joking!), as you will just be wasting money having microneedling treatment but then expose your skin to the damaging effect caused by UVA and UVB rays. You will need to commit to using minimum 30spf sunscreen containing at least 4-star rating UVA and UVB factor daily.
